Despite being unable to participate in Liverpool's fine start to the Premier League season, Luis Suarez provided Uruguay with an invaluable brace to secure La Celeste all three points in their World Cup Qualifier against Peru on Friday.
After being fouled in the box by Victor Yotun, Suarez stepped up to convert the penalty to open up Uruguay's account in the 43rd minute at Lima's Estadio Nacional.
Suarez, who had been linked with moves away from Merseyside during the recent transfer window, completed his brace in the 67th minute as he picked up the ball on the edge of the box and drove a brilliant strike into the roof of the net.
The 2-1 victory, doubled with Tuesday's 2-0 home over Colombia, sees Uruguay solidify fifth place in the CONMEBOL qualifying standings, with a game in hand and three points ahead of sixth-placed Venezuela.
