Wales missed out on the chance to leapfrog into third place in Group A after losing 2-1 to Macedonia in World Cup qualifying on Friday.
Despite going behind after 21 minutes, Wales responded through Aaron Ramsey as the Arsenal midfielder's exquisite turn forced Ivan Trickovski to bring him down inside the box, resulting in Ramsey converting the spot kick.
It would not be enough to secure a point for Wales as youngster Aleksandar Trajkovski scored with ten minutes remaining to take Macedonia ahead of Wales into fifth place following the Former Yugoslav Republic's 2-1 loss to Scotland and the Dragons' 3-0 defeat to Serbia on Tuesday.
