Inter Milan vice-president Zanetti: I was wrong to blow-up against Hodgson; we joke about it now

Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti has recalled wrongly blowing up against Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodsgon.

Zanetti was speaking to the Porecast, Giacomo Poretti's podcast on YouTube, focusing on his coaches at the Nerazzurri.

He recalled, "In 1999 we changed four coaches, it was a complicated and difficult year. Moratti invested a lot of money to win I had a great relationship with all the coaches, Gigi Simoni was a father to us and it was a very united and compact group thanks to his leadership.

"Hodgson was very good, I had an episode with him but I made a mistake there. In that moment, a UEFA Cup final at San Siro, I didn't understand the point of the substitution and Nicola Berti came on who was a penalty taker and I got p***ed off.

"After three seconds we hugged, we still see each other and joke about that episode. Talking about Mourinho is talking about a person with great skills, charisma, a winner. I remember my first contact with Mourinho, I was returning to Argentina, my phone rang and it was him telling me that he had just signed with Inter and spoke perfect Italian. He was ahead."
