Inter Milan coach Spalletti pleased with victory over Chievo

Inter Milan coach Luciano Spalletti was satisfied with their 2-0 defeat of Chievo Verona on Monday night.

Matteo Politano and Ivan Perisic struck the goals, as Inter moved four points clear in the fight for a Champions League spot.

Spalletti said, “I saw maturity, clear heads, sharpness and the awareness to avoid making silly mistakes, because when the deadlock isn't broken, you can start to take things for granted and take too make risks.

“We remained organised, I thought it was the approach we needed and we created many chances, even if it was a struggle to get the result locked down.

“We moved the ball side to side because Chievo's attitude was forcing us into that, but it is true our passing didn't have the right quality to break them down. We can do better.

“Against Napoli there will inevitably be more spaces, a higher tempo and they will come to attack us. We had to fight our way out of the chain-link fence that was the Chievo midfield and you need precision to emerge from those situations."
