Inter Milan captain Zanetti wants to play on into his 40s

Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti says retirement is still some years away for him.

The Argentine has been with his club since 1995 and at the age of 37 won the Treble plus Club World Cup.

"In all honesty, I have never spoken to my family about retirement," he told FCInterNews.it.

"I am receiving the fruits of what football has given me. These are the last years of my career and I want to make the most of all the opportunities I have."

He added: "I am happy with the way my career went. I still feel good physically and want to be of use to Inter and Argentina.

"My intention is to play at least until I'm 40, then I'll consider what to do."
