Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini is chasing Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva.

The London Evening Standard says Inter have already signed Lukas Podolski on loan from Arsenal for the rest of the season but Mancini believes he needs more solidity in midfield and has set his sights on Liverpool star Lucas, who turns 28 on Friday.

The development comes amid reports the Liverpool man could move to Serie A as part of a swap deal that would see Nemanja Vidic return to the Premier League.

Mancini is desperate to make Inter competitive again as quickly as possible and they are likely to be one of the busiest of Europe's major clubs in this transfer window.
