Injuries could prompt England call-ups for West Ham striker Carroll, Sunderland ace Defoe

England boss Gareth Southgate could call up West Ham United striker Andy Carroll for upcoming fixtures later this month.

The 28-year-old hasn't represented the Three Lions since 2012, but the latest injury crisis in the striker department could force Southgate to name him in his squad on Thursday.

The usual suspects such as Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge are set to miss with respective injuries and reports have suggested that even Sunderland veteran Jermain Defoe is in contention for a call-up.

The Three Lions will play an away friendly with Germany and a World Cup qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley on March 22 and 26 respectively.
