Greater Manchester Police are to increase security for the Manchester derby on Sunday 22nd September. Trouble marred last December's meeting between City and United at the Etihad Stadium, with visiting defender Rio Ferdinand hit by a coin before being confronted by a fan who managed to get on the pitch.
Officers will also be given protective eyewear, although only those on the segregation lines, while hand-held cameras will be used in the wake of key incidents such as goals.
The police are also expected to increase public warnings in the days building up to the game.
