IN DETAIL: Police have video & statement as fallout continues after Real Madrid midfielder Valverde thumped Villarreal's Baena

Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde could face police action after his clash with Villarreal's Alex Baena.

AS is alleging Valverde thumped Baena in the face in the Santiago Bernabeu carpark after Villarreal's 3-2 win.

Villarreal claims to have a video of the attack and the police have already taken a statement on what happened. The midfield rivals had several run-ins during the match.

When the Submarino players were preparing to get on the bus, Valverde approached Baena and allegedly assaulted him. Baena was looking at his mobile phone as he was claimed to be struck. Moments later, Xisco Nadal, a Villarreal delegate, posted the following message on his Twitter account: "Fede Valverde, pimp and coward", although a while later he deleted that message.

Valverde's version, told by Javier Herráez on Carrusel Deportivo, states that Baena mocked his son both on the pitch and in the same bus carpark.

"Tell me now what you told me about my son on the field," the Uruguayan snapped at the Villarreal footballer.

The Villarreal footballer, for his part, offered his version of the controversy through Twitter:

"Very happy with the impressive victory of the team in a setting like the Santiago Bernabéu, but at the same time very sad about the aggression that I have suffered after the game and surprised by what is being said about me. IT IS COMPLETELY FALSE THAT I SAID THAT."
