Released Crystal Palace midfielder Randell Williams admits he didn't see eye-to-eye with U23 management.
Williams is set to sign for Watford this week.
He told the Croydon Advertiser: "It was disappointing to be released by Palace but hopefully now I can move on to better things.
"Palace played a part in my development, and of course before them I was in non-league, so it's been a big step for me and I am learning every single day.
"I was involved a lot in the first team training at Palace, and even when the new boss came in (Sam Allardyce), I was given an opportunity to train with them and impressed.
"Sammy Lee was quite an admirer and then he heard I was being released, so they stopped bringing me in.
"I believe it was the decision of the U23s manager (Richard Shaw) to release me - I'm not sure if Mark Bright was involved - but it wasn't down to the first team management to release me.
"I was training well and getting called in to train with the first team, so it must have been from the U23 side of things."
