I fought temptation to send Tottenham star Kane on loan - Villa boss Sherwood

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood says he opted against sending Harry Kane on loan last season.

The former Tottenham boss gave the 21-year old striker plenty of chances last term and has revealed that he had the opportunity to farm him out in January 2014 but fought the lure to do so and it has now worked in the north London clubs favour.

"It's great, I resisted the temptation to get rid of him last January because perhaps he wouldn't be the star he is for Tottenham," said Sherwood in the wake of Kane's first England senior call.

"There were people at the club who wanted to bring in another striker and sacrifice Harry Kane. I wouldn't allow that to happen. He got his opportunity and now he's bouncing forward."
