Hutton says Tottenham have smashed traditional top four

Alan Hutton says Tottenham have ended the talk of a traditional top four in England.

Hutton believes his team have helped kill the top-flight monopoly that Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have enjoyed for so long.

Spurs are on course to repeat their fourth-placed finish of last season, with Manchester City and Bolton also challenging.

The Scottish defender insisted: "I don't think you can see a top four any more. We've probably helped see to that.

"It's a stronger league now. There are six, seven or even eight teams right up there challenging for a top-four spot. It's certainly tougher this season."

Tottenham are fifth in the Prem following Sunday's last-gasp 2-1 win over Liverpool at White Hart Lane.

Hutton said: "We always hear about Manchester United and how they're not playing well, but still win. Well, we're the same.

"We didn't play that well against Liverpool, but we still managed to get the victory.

"We never give up or settle for a draw. We are an attacking side and we want to attack right to the last minute.

"We always go for it, it's exciting for the fans.

"Can we win the title? I don't see why not."
