Hull City midfielder Kevin Kilbane insists he is moving forward after the Republic of Ireland's World Cup disappointment. Giovanni Trapattoni's men saw their hopes of reaching South Africa crushed in the cruellest of fashions against France last week, with Thierry Henry's handball still a hot topic among football followers.
Kilbane's first game back at the KC Stadium saw Hull involved in a six-goal thriller against West Ham.
He said: "The situations of the last seven days have to be gone now, we have got a big game coming up tomorrow night (Everton) and another one on Saturday (Man City). The football helps you to get through any sort of downfalls that you have.
"We were back in training on Friday afternoon and it was just about trying to get yourself lifted after what had happened.
"But it's gone now for Paul (McShane), Stephen (Hunt) and myself and we have come back here and we've managed to get through it as quickly as possible. It's just onwards and upwards now and you have to try and block it out as much as you can.
"There have been enough downfalls in everyone's career, so it wasn't really an issue once the initial 48 hours had gone. You forget about it and try to move on."
