Hull signing Sonko pleased with Hunt, Olofinjana reunion

Stoke City defender Ibrahima Sonko is delighted with his loan move to Hull City.

Sonko told hullcityafc.net: "I am very pleased to be here and the manager is giving me the chance to show everybody that I am good enough to play in this league. Hopefully I can do the job.

"Everywhere you go, you want to play in the first team and I am here to challenge those who are already here and doing that can only make everybody a better player. This seems a nice place and everybody was very welcoming when I arrived for training this morning. Hopefully I can repay that out on the pitch. I'm going to try and make sure I fit in here and settle very quickly."

That settling in period will no doubt be aided by the familiar faces of Seyi Olofinjana and Stephen Hunt. Sonko played alongside Olofinjana at Stoke last season while Hunt was a team-mate at both Brentford and Reading.

"Me and Seyi spent a lot of time together last season, although unfortunately some of that was on the bench and it was a frustrating time. But that is in the past and we both have something to show here now.

"As far as Stephen is concerned, I have known him since my days at Brentford and I think there have only been a couple of years since then when we haven't played together.

"He is a really hard-working player and a great person to have in your team because he is always up for the challenge. Everybody should follow his example."
