Hull City are closing on a deal for Everton defender Matthew Pennington.

The Liverpool Echo says new Tigers boss, former Russia coach Leonid Slutsky, has confirmed his interest in 22-year-old Pennington.

The defender is set to join Hull on a season-long loan.

Pennington netted in last season's Merseyside Derby at Anfield in one of only three outings to date for him under Ronald Koeman.
