Hull City are hoping for the completion of a prospective takeover to take place by the start of January.
The Tigers have been up for sale since 2014 when owner Assem Allam failed to change the name of the club to Hull Tigers.
Sky Sports understands that there are four parties interested in purchasing Hull but as of yet, there is no deal in place, which is a concern ahead of the winter transfer window.
A club spokesman told Sky: "The process of due diligence is ongoing but it is unclear whether this will be completed before or after the transfer window.
"If the takeover of the club can't be done before the window then talks will be suspended."
Hull currently sit 18th on the Premier League table under manager Mike Phelan, who was made permanent boss only recently following the sudden summer exit of Steve Bruce.
