Hull City chairman Paul Duffen admits the club is disappointed to lose Michael Turner to Sunderland.
"It is a sad day for Hull City and a sad week," Duffen said following the news that the 25-year old had signed a four-year deal with Sunderland.
"Michael Turner has been a superb player for Hull City but Michael has the right to want to progress his career and we wish him well with his move."
Asked how the move had come about, Duffen said: "It is because of many factors.
"When a footballer wants to leave a club and the club feels it is the right time for him to go, that is when a deal happens. This was the right time for Michael and for Hull City. It is a difficult week for everybody at Hull City."
