Hull City skipper Curtis Davies says they need to find consistency in their play.
A damaging 1-0 defeat at drop rivals West Brom dragged the Tigers back into the bottom three on Saturday.
"I am surprised to be in this position, bearing in mind how we played at the start of the season," the City skipper told the Hull Daily Mail. "We were playing well but not getting the rub of the green and conceding late goals.
"But recently we have been up and down. A proper rollercoaster.
"We played well at Sunderland, lost to Leicester when we controlled it without creating too much. Everton we were brilliant again and then coming to West Brom, it was very tough.
"It is very frustrating to lose against these teams.
"I don't want to talk about luck. We didn't get the rub of the green at the start, fair enough. But you make your own luck in football and we have to start doing that. I'd sooner be good and get the results because of that."
