Hull captain Curtis Davies: Embarrassing, gutless, devastating

Hull City captain Curtis Davies admits the players feel embarrassed after their mauling at Bournemouth.

The terrible Tigers saw their tally of goals shipped rise to 17 in their last four games as Bournemouth romped to their biggest ever Premier League win.

Davies said: “It was embarrassing, gutless, devastating. It was the worst performance I think I've ever been involved in.

“There are times when you can be on a hiding but at least people are doing everything right to try and stop that.

“Here it wasn't the case. Don't get me wrong, Bournemouth were good, but it wasn't a case of them cutting us open. You can lose 6-1 and give it a go but that was poor.

“There's no excuses now. There's no 10 men, no so-called big team. It was embarrassing. You can come off the back of the other games and say you didn't expect to get points, blah, blah.

“But you come to Bournemouth and we believed we could win. We had been looking forward to this run of games to try and get points on the board but we've let ourselves down massively.

“We've let the club down and we've let the manager down. We're going to have to be a lot better than that to beat Stoke next week."
