Hull boss Brown: Boateng is Premiership icon

Hull City boss Phil Brown absolved George Boateng of any blame after his red card against Arsenal.

Boateng was sent off on the stroke of half-time for Hull, who lost to an injury-time winner from Nicklas Bendtner.

Boateng will now serve a ban, but Brown absolved his captain of blame.

"George has got no reason to apologise to anybody," the boss said. "He's been an absolute credit to the Premier League for 15 years.

"He's a big player for us and someone's got to step up to the plate instead of George now."
