Former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea manager Villas-Boas took up the reins at the Russian club on a two-year contract last Tuesday and the Portuguese coach had a dream start with a victory on Monday afternoon.
Two goals by Brazilian forward Hulk sealed the win Villas-Boas, as his Zenit team closed the gap on league leaders Lokomotiv Moscow to three points with eight games remaining.
