John Hughes was appointed as the new manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Wednesday.
The 49-year old former Swansea City, Falkirk, Celtic and Hibernian defender has filled the position vacated by Terry Butcher, who joined Hibs last month, and is now looking to do his best to continue the good work the former England international did for Caley.
"I've got big shoes to fill in Terry Butcher," the ex-Falkirk, Hibs, Livingston and Hartlepool United boss told Sky Sports News. "I've met the players and I've said that to them; it's business as usual.
"Terry and Maurice (Malpas) done a wonderful job at this club. The position Inverness are in might have scared one or two people but it excites me.
"I feel I've got the experience and the personality to bring success to the club.
"I met the players yesterday and the spirit that's in that dressing room that Terry has built up is fantastic.
"I think they are proud of the fact of always having the underdog tag and that creates a siege mentality.
"If I can go and match the lofty heights that Terry Butcher did at this club, then I'm doing a right good job."
Hughes' first match in charge of Inverness will be away to St Mirren this weekend.
