Huddersfield target Maupay explains quitting St Etienne for Brentford

Brentford striker Neal Maupay has explained leaving Ligue 1St Etienne for the Bees.

Maupay's form this season now has him being linked with Leicester City and Huddersfield Town.

He told Ouest France: "After my season in Brest, I returned to Saint-Etienne. But there, I did not feel the confidence I had enjoyed in Brest and I needed to express myself. So that's why I made the decision to go play for Brentford.

"It was the club that wanted me the most and they knew me by heart. They really showed me they wanted me.

"Afraid to try a new experience at 20? I was not afraid at all. I had already been with a lot of clubs (Nice, Saint-Etienne and Brest) so it did not scare me to leave for a new adventure. And I'm really happy with my choice, I feel fulfilled today."
