Howe: Bournemouth to target British-based players for maiden Premier League campaign

AFC Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe says the promoted club will mainly go after British players as they prepare to take the massive step up to the Premier League.

The Cherries gained promotion to England's top flight by winning the Championship title and plans are already in place to strengthen the playing group ahead of next season.

Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov was recently linked with a possible move to the Goldsands Stadium but Howe suggests the Dorset outfit will most likely be dealing with locally produced players.

"Predominantly we will go British-based," the 37-year old said on Sky Sports' 'Monday Night Football'.

"In our situation going into a new league with so many unknowns we want dependable players that we know. I think the make-up of our squad will be British.

"That's not to say we won't look abroad and we have cast our net quite wide to try and find the best players for us."
