Holman on target as Alkmaar knock over Feyenoord

Brett Holman helped AZ Alkmaar to a vital 2-1 win over Feyenoord Rotterdam in the Dutch Eredivisie overnight. The Australian international was able to head home in injury time of the first half from a Stijn Schaars free-kick before their lead was doubled on the hour-mark through Graziano Pelle.

On this occasion, Holman turned provider with a cross from the right flank which the Italian struck home, making it 2-0.

Feyenoord got themselved back into the contest in the 69th minute when Luc Castaignos scored but it wasn't enough to stop them falling to 15th as Alkmaar remained sixth, seven points off league leaders FC Twente.

It was Holman's second league goal for the season, following up his first in the 3-0 wion over Willem II on October 24.
