Hoffenheim boss Babbel denies contract clause at centre of row with Fulham, West Brom target Babel

Hoffenheim coach Markus Babbel denies his decision to freeze out Ryan Babel has been influenced by a clause in his contract.

De Telegraaf says a clause in Babel's deal means his wages will double if he plays four more games this coming season.

However, Babbel says the claims are nonsense: "My decision is made based on purely sporting reasons."

Babel's situation has attracted interest from Fulham and West Bromwich Albion.
