Bayern Munich's pursuit of Bayer Lverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has been confirmed.

Xabi is also a target for Liverpool for next season.

Bayern Munich's honorary president Uli Hoeness has now confirmed their interest, telling Ran: "He has proven that he can be a coach for the really big teams and it will be much more difficult because clubs like Liverpool, Real Madrid (show interest) and Leverkusen (want to keep him) and also FC Bayern are working on it.

"There is hardly a coach who is suitable and currently available."

Xabi's Bayer currently top the Bundesliga table with a whopping ten points.
