Hodgson wants greater access to Premier League players

England coach Roy Hodgson is seeking greater access to his players in order to go through tactical sessions.

Hodgson will ask Premier League clubs to release players for an evening of tactical analysis next year in an attempt to bridge the long gap until the next international matches, which are at the end of March.

Hodgson has no time with his players until the week before the Lithuania and Italy games, but is hoping he can build on the 'Club England' spirit which is developing among the players.

"It would be nice if we could get them together on one or two occasions either as a whole group or, if that wasn't possible, in two groups, with maybe a Manchester group and a southern group," said the England manager.

"I'll have to talk to the clubs. But I would like to think with my relationship with the managers that if I said: 'Look, we've got a meeting between 5 o'clock and 8 o'clock. Can you send us your players on a Thursday night when there's nothing going on for them?' I'd be very surprised if any of them said: 'No, we don't want to do it'. I've already broached the subject with the players and they are already on board.

"It will be post-match analysis, a continuation of talking about what we're trying to do."
