Hodgson delighted with West Brom financial commitment to youth system

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson is delighted with the club's commitment to their youth structure.

Albion plan to spend up to £2.5million on their training facilities this summer to keep pace with the sweeping changes in youth football.

And the club have also committed to an initial ongoing annual spend of up to £3m towards the development of their 9 to 21 year old players.

A commitment the Hawthorns boss insists can only benefit the Baggies in the long term.

"We're all in the process of trying to help the club to grow," Hodgson told the WBA website.

"I would back anything within the club that goes towards making us a bigger and stronger club. We saw the club putting a new pitch down last year and we have seen constant changes to the training ground even in the year that I have been here.

"They are changes that we envisaged for the future. All of these things are very wise ways to spend some of the club's money because it's investing in the future, investing in players and investing in our daily life."
