England coach Roy Hodgson feels Chelsea ace Frank Lampard can play in the same midfield as Liverpool's Steven Gerrard.
Lampard has been given the No 8 shirt in England boss Hodgson's 23-man squad, which was officially named yesterday.
And the first XI - the suspended Wayne Rooney apart - looks very much like the team that could play the opening Group D game against France in Donetsk on June 11.
Many England managers over the last decade have failed to get the best out of the Gerrard-Lampard combination.
And it was thought the pair would never start a game together again.
But with Gerrard - 32 today - having been named captain and therefore a certain starter, rejuvenated Lampard is fighting for the other spot in the centre if Hodgson goes with his favoured 4-4-2.
