Thomas Hitzlsperger was delighted with a winning debut for West Ham United against Peterborough United this week.
The former Aston Villa and Lazio midfielder was the outstanding player on the night.
Midfielder Hitzlsperger told whufc.com: "I'm glad that we won. The manager said before the game that, even though it was a pre-season friendly, he wanted to start the season with a win and that's what we did.
"I was happy with the assist. Obviously it was lovely to play and contribute to the game so to get an assist was good.
"I've enjoyed it from day one. It's been really good. They are good lads who have made it easy for me to settle in. I've enjoyed it so far and I'm just looking forward to the new season."
