Hiddink: Man City wanted me to replace Mancini in summer

Turkey coach Guus Hiddink has sensationally revealed he was offered the Manchester City job in the summer. Pressure is now mounting on Roberto Mancini as his team were booed off by angry City fans following the goalless draw with Birmingham yesterday.

Former Chelsea boss Hiddink revealed: "In the summer City and Liverpool both came to me with an inquiry.

"But at my age I don't want to manage a club again for seven days a week over three years."

Last night Vicky Kloss, City's Chief Communications officer, said: "We strenuously deny that we have ever spoken to Guus Hiddink or any other manager about the possibility of succeeding Roberto Mancini."
