Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks piled pressure on boss Rafa Benitez by telling him he should be winning trophies after spending £50million in the summer.
A second Champions League defeat at Besiktas leaves last season's finalists in danger of failing to reach the knockout stages. "The squad is good enough to win things," Hicks said. "It should be winning things. If it doesn't, we'll have to have a meeting at the end of the year and understand what happened."
Hicks insisted he still "totally supported" Benitez, who remains unbeaten in the Premier League. But before hosting leaders Arsenal on Sunday, Hicks made clear the board had provided resources for the manager - and now wants him to deliver the one thing the fans crave.
"Our fans, I can tell from just talking to them, they want to win the Premier League," said the billionaire.
"One of the reasons we made the signings we did in the summer was to create the depth we now have which Rafa explained to George and me is how you win the Premier League."
