Emile Heskey is keen to salvage something from his injury-hit campaign with Wigan.
The former Liverpool ace began the season in fine form after helping The Latics to two wins from their opening three games.
However, Heskey has been dogged by injury ever since, after picking up back and hamstring injuries after fracturing a metatarsal in September.
"Even at this stage of the season, I feel I haven't really played," he told the Wigan Evening Post.
"It started off so well but then I got the setback of breaking my foot and I've never really come back properly. I'd play a couple of games and then something else would happen.
"It's been a season to forget so far, but I'm not writing it off because we still have a lot of important games to come.
"This is the first season I have had serious injury problems. It has seemed to be one after another which has been frustrating.
"Getting out on the pitch is my aim. I definitely think I can play a big part in the last 11 games, hopefully get some goals and provide others for the lads.
"There are some winnable games coming up - we have to have a positive attitude.
"We want to be safe before the last game of the season against Manchester United, and I think we can be."
