Hertha Berlin attacker Matheus Cunha is in Spain to complete a move to Atletico Madrid.

Atletico will pay around €30m for the 22-year-old, who will sign as soon as he passes a routine medical check. Diego Simeone has been after a forward all summer and, having narrowly missed out on Rafa Mir, finally has his wish granted, reports Marca.

Everton were also interested in Matheus Cunha, but Los Colchoneros won the race this time and the Brazilian joins an attack that already boasts Luis Suarez, Joao Felix and Angel Correa as Los Rojiblancos look to defend their title.

It looks to have been third time lucky for Atleti, after missing out first on Rafa Mir and then failing to convince Fiorentina to sell Dusan Vlahovic.

Cunha, however, is a different mould of player and not the no.9 that Atleti were supposedly hunting for. The former Sion and RB Leipzig player can play through the middle but also as a second striker or on the left wing, where he played most of his games for Hertha.
