Heracles Almelo striker Kristoffer Peterson: My ex-Liverpool pals fell into black hole

Kristoffer Peterson has no regrets leaving Liverpool.

Now with Heracles Almelo, the Swedish striker is attracting interest from the Bundesliga.

He told the Lundh podcast: "When Liverpool accepted a bid from Utrecht for a sum that is nothing for Liverpool, one has to know the facts - how important will I be? That summer, they had spent £101 million on Markovic, Balotelli and Adam Lallana, many who were in my position.

"Utrecht wanted to bet on me and offered a four-year contract. The Dutch league as a 19 year old felt great. I was very happy when I signed."

On his former Liverpool youth teammates, Peterson continued: "I've seen it, not myself but from teammates. They call it 'The Black Hole' in England, that you fall into the black hole with parties, girls and people who want to ride the wave with a successful football player.

"It's dangerous, I think. That's why I've been so incredibly careful to keep my friends from childhood. Those are my close friends who today I hang out with."
