Henri Saivet was delighted with a winning debut in Newcastle United's victory over West Ham.

The former Bordeaux midfielder admitted he was taken aback by the warm reception he was afforded when coming off the bench to make his Toon debut in the 2-1 win over West Ham.

Saivet told the Evening Chronicle: “We can go much higher than this. Now we have to focus on winning more games and we can all go forward as a club.

“It's Watford next. For us, we must treat every game like a cup final or an important occasion.

“We must continue winning."
