Henderson avoided Man Utd training: I knew ten Hag would want to keep me

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has admitted he didn't speak to Erik ten Hag before leaving on loan.

Henderson is with Nottingham Forest for the entire 2022/2023 season, after failing to get much game time last season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag.

The English keeper was upset at the lack of chances he got last term, and did not want ten Hag to persuade him to stay at the club for another year.

"No," he told talkSPORT regarding speaking with ten Hag.

"I didn't really want the manager to come in and be able to see me in training because I knew he'd probably want to keep me.

"So I tried to do it all before I left for the season, I told all the hierarchy I need to go and play football.

"I don't want to be here playing second fiddle. And it panned out so I was almost gone before the manager came in the door and I haven't spoken to him since."
