Hemed strike helps Brighton sink Newcastle

A second half goal from Tomer Hemed was enough too see Brighton past Newcastle at the AMEX on Sunday.

The Israeli striker latched on to Dale Stephens' knock-down to score the game's only goal on the 51st minute mark.

Newcastle pipped Brighton to the Championship trophy last season on the final day of the season, but it was Chris Hughton who had the last laugh as he picked up his first win against his employers.

The game wasn't void of controversy, with camera replays showing Hemed having stamped on Magpies defender DeAndre Yedlin in the dying moments of the match.

The referee failed too see the incident, however retrospective action may be taken which could result in a three-game ban for Hemed.
