Manchester City are set to land Heerenveen striker Afonso Alves in January.
The Daily Mail says City will sign Brazil striker Afonso Alves from Heerenveen in the January transfer window. The 26-year-old forward has agreed to the move and will arrive for a fee expected to be £7million.
City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has swooped for Afonso after becoming frustrated with the lack of goals from Emile Mpenza, Georgios Samaras and Rolando Bianchi.
Samaras, who has never settled at City, may go back to Heerenveen in part-exchange for Afonso as the Premiership club look to keep their spending in check.
