Hearts are exploring the prospect of signing Japanese striker Ryotaro Meshino on loan from Manchester City.

Sky Sports says the SPL club are investigating whether the 21-year-old will qualify for a work permit.

City confirmed a deal at the end of the transfer window to sign the player from Gamba Osaka.

If Meshino is denied a work permit, City are planning to send the forward on loan to a club from outside the UK.
