Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo concedes midfielder Laryea Kingston could be sold next month.
Laszlo insists he is unaware of any formal offers for the Ghana international, who is reportedly being monitored by English clubs West Brom, Portsmouth and Bolton.
But the Jambos manager is already contemplating life after Kingston, one of a number of star names to have been linked with moves away in January.
"Larry is here at the moment and we are working with him," Laszlo said in the Edinburgh Evening News.
"If we have an offer then we can handle this. If Larry goes then we must think about a new player."
Kingston upset Laszlo recently by flying to Ghana for a friendly international despite being injured.
The player insisted he had no choice but to report for duty and have his injury assessed by national team doctors.
Laszlo said: "Larry's attitude is very good. He had a very bad time with flying to Ghana and a lot of people thought we did not have a good relationship, but we do.
"I hear so many things but I haven't heard anything from the club about one specific player. No-one has said we have an offer or there is a deal ready."
