Hearts intent on nursing ex-Liverpool defender Wilson through season

Heart of Midlothian manager Gary Locke says the club will look to get skipper Danny Wilson through the campaign as best they can as he continues to suffer from shin problems.

The 21-year old former Liverpool defender has been battling the issue for a few weeks now and at some stage will require surgery but Locke is determined to keep him up in a bid to enhance the Jambos' chances of avoiding relegation.

"It's a wee problem Danny's had for a couple of weeks now," Locke, whose side sits 11 points clear at the bottom of the SPL table, told the club's official website.

"His shins were flaring up so we decided it was best to get him a scan. Fortunately it's come back and, while it's not brilliant news, it's better than what we anticipated.

"We just have to manage him during the week and wrap him up in cotton wool to make sure he's okay for the games on Saturday.

"Danny's obviously happy because it could've been a lot worse. It's not ideal but the good thing is we can manage it and we can get him out on the pitch on a Saturday, which is the most important thing."
