Former Arsenal striker John Hartson feels their transfer deadline deals were done to appease fans.
Per Mertesacker, Andre Santos, Yossi Benayoun and Mikel Arteta all arrive on Wednesday.
Hartson told the Mail on Sunday: "I was Britain's most expensive teenager when I signed for them and still care for the club.
"The Fabregas thing was done shabbily, they should have got rid a year ago because his head had been turned by Barcelona and his performances were a joke for a captain of the club. Nasri is a bigger loss for me. I speak to some of the Arsenal boys and they say he's a proper player. How was his contract allowed to run down to a year? Now Robin van Persie might be next.
"They have to get these deals done in the boardroom. I don't know if Wenger really wanted to sign four players on the last day but something had to be done to appease the fans."
