Hart expects Man City to go after British signings

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart feels his club will target British players this summer.

City recently lost Frank Lampard and James Milner which suggests to Hart that the hierarchy may make local players a priority in the transfer window in order to toe the line on the homegrown rule.

Lampard has departed the Etihad Stadium after just one season to join MLS expansion club New York City FC while Milner was snapped up on a free transfer by Liverpool.

"It is a long summer ahead," said Hart.

"With losing Frank and James – and I'm not in the discussions of transfers – I imagine, given homegrown players and stuff like that, it will be top of their list to bring in English players or to promote some of the lads [from the academy].

"I am very confident in City as a club going places, which is why I committed my future to them. What they are doing is fantastic. He (Khaldoon Al Mubarak) is a great chairman and they have done amazing things since coming."
