Hamburg winger Elia agrees personal terms with Liverpool

Eljero Elia is keen to join good friend Dirk Kuyt at Liverpool.

The Hamburg winger is a £13 million target for Reds boss Roy Hodgson.

The Germans are desperate to bring in funds, having paid FC Twente £8m for Elia in 2009.

Elia now hopes to link up with Holland team-mate Kuyt at Anfield.

But Hodgson faces stiff competition from former England boss Steve McClaren, now in Germany.

He managed Elia at Dutch outfit Twente and now wants to sign him again for Wolfsburg.

But the 23-year-old has, according to German press, already agreed personal terms with Liverpool.
