Didi Hamann was delighted with Manchester City's away win breakthrough at Newcastle United this week.
"We've not won away for a long time, since the first game against West Ham, but we've had some tough games away from home.
"With the home form being the way it has, you'd expect one or two away wins as well, but it didn't work out and we didn't get the breaks.
"If you've got such good home form you've got to make the most of it, so it was vital to get all three points here."
Having been, seen and done almost as much as you can in the game, the 34-year-old has admitted it's not just what happens on the pitch that helps pick up away points.
"I think it's all to do with confidence," he mused. "I don't think we've played too differently away from home than at home in the last few weeks, it's just a matter of confidence.
"We've gone ahead a few times away from home lately and just couldn't close it out and win the games.
"Therefore I think it's very good for the team and for the confidence to get the points. It's good to know you can go away from home and win games."
