American goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann has won a new contract at Reading.

The USA international's deal has been automatically renewed due to a clause stipulating there would be an extension as soon as he reached 20 league games this season.

That clause was triggered in Tuesday's defeat by Portsmouth, and Hahnemann's new deal will expire at the end of next season (2008/09).
