Chelsea hero Ruud Gullit is a huge fan of Crystal Palace midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Gullit believes the Chelsea-owned midfielder can become a full England international if he continues in the same vein, having impressed so far during his season-long loan at Palace.

Speaking on BBC programme Match of the Day 2 on Sunday, Gullit said: "I always loved this guy [Loftus-Cheek] when he was at Chelsea, and I saw him playing [at Liverpool] – he was so influential.

"I think the more he plays, the better he gets.

"He knows how to play his game, he knows how to go forward and how to help the team.

"He plays on the right side of the midfield, but I want to see him in the centre – he needs to have the ball.

"He muscles through and it is good technique and awareness, and [Christian] Benteke should have scored.

"Liverpool didn't play well, but he was technical and strong, and he is a fantastic player. But I would like to see him a little bit more in the centre [of the three].

"He is the one who creates and when he is in the middle of the three, I think they will play. He has the brains. He is a future England player, I really believe that."
