Grip: Man City transfer policy not ideal

Tord Grip has admitted that Manchester City's hectic activity in the summer transfer market is far from ideal.

City have brought in eight new players, including the likes of £8.8miilion signing Rolando Bianchi from Reggina, since Sven Goran Eriksson took charge of the club in June.

Eriksson's assistant Grip insists there was little option but to dive into pre-season spending ahead of the start of the Premier League and he has revealed that the City management team had not seen all the players in action before making the signings.

"You shouldn't recruit like this and with this pace," said Grip in the Swedish media.

"It's actually crazy, but considering the timing we had no choice.

"Actually, you want to see a player live several times before you buy and during the autumn we will have time to watch matches."
